Instagram DMs

Connect Instagram to handle direct messages through Opally.

Prerequisites

• Instagram Business or Creator Account

• Connected to a Facebook Page

• Admin access to the Facebook Page

Setup Steps

1. Ensure Account is Business/Creator

1. Go to Instagram Settings

2. Account > Switch to Professional Account

3. Choose Business or Creator

4. Connect to your Facebook Page

2. Enable Messaging API

1. Go to Instagram Settings

2. Privacy > Messages

3. Enable "Allow access to messages"

3. Connect in Opally

1. Go to Integrations in the sidebar

2. Find Instagram and click Connect

3. Sign in to Facebook (Instagram uses Facebook login)

4. Select your Instagram account

5. Grant permissions

Story Replies

When guests reply to your Instagram Stories:

Troubleshooting

Can't connect

• Verify Instagram is a Business/Creator account

• Ensure it's connected to a Facebook Page

• Check you have admin access to the Page

Messages not appearing

• Confirm messaging API is enabled in Instagram

• Check the connection status in Opally

• Verify the Instagram account is active

AI not responding

• Enable AI for Instagram in settings

• Check Knowledge Base has relevant content

• Review conversation in Chat dashboard

Disconnecting

1. Go to Integrations in the sidebar

2. Click Disconnect on Instagram

3. Optionally revoke access in Instagram Settings > Security > Apps and Websites
