Connect WhatsApp Business to handle guest messages through Opally.

Prerequisites

  • Meta Business Account

  • WhatsApp Business Account

  • Verified business

  • Phone number for WhatsApp

Setup Steps

1. Prepare Your WhatsApp Business Account

  1. Create a Meta Business Accountarrow-up-right if you don't have one

  2. Set up WhatsApp Business through Meta Business Suite

  3. Verify your business

  4. Add and verify a phone number

2. Connect in Opally

  1. Go to Integrations in the sidebar

  2. Find WhatsApp and click Connect

  3. Sign in to your Meta Business Account

  4. Select your WhatsApp Business Account

  5. Authorize Opally

3. Configure Settings

After connecting:

  • Set your greeting message

  • Configure away messages

  • Enable AI responses

Message Templates

WhatsApp requires pre-approved templates for business-initiated messages:

  1. Create templates in Meta Business Suite

  2. Templates appear in Opally

  3. Use templates for proactive outreach

Response Time

WhatsApp has a 24-hour messaging window:

  • Respond within 24 hours of guest message

  • After 24 hours, only templates can be sent

  • AI responses are instant, staying within the window

Troubleshooting

Messages not appearing

  • Verify integration is connected

  • Check phone number is active

  • Ensure WhatsApp Business Account is approved

AI not responding

  • Check AI is enabled for WhatsApp

  • Verify Knowledge Base has relevant content

  • Review conversation in Chat dashboard

Disconnecting

  1. Go to Integrations in the sidebar

  2. Click Disconnect on WhatsApp

  3. Optionally remove Opally from Meta Business Settings
